MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641024363 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology; and Easwari Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 1, for 'personalized road health-based navigation system using embedded systems and deep learning.'

Inventor(s) include M Shunmugathammal; G Mathangi; Tushara V N; and Dharshene V.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "In everyday travel, drivers often encounter roads of varying quality without prior knowledge, which can affect comfort, vehicle condition, and safety. Existing navigation systems focus mainly on distance and traffic and do not consider the physical state of road surfaces. The proposed invention introduces a road surface monitoring and navigation system that evaluates road quality using vehicle-mounted sensors and data analysis. Road condition data is processed to generate a road health score for each segment and stored on a cloud platform to form a dynamic road health map. Based on user-defined quality preferences, the system suggests suitable routes and provides warnings when better alternatives are unavailable, enabling safer and more comfortable navigation."
