MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421007310 A) filed by Uka Tarsadia University; Dr. Sachin G. Modha; and Mr. Shiv R. Desai, Bardoli, Gujarat, on Feb. 2, 2024, for 'ph responsive reusable paper strip and a process of preparing the same.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Sachin G. Modha; Mr. Shiv R. Desai; Dr. Chintan R. Patel; Ms. Rinkal B. Bhoraniya; Ms. Vidhi V. Bhopekar; and Mr. Mahesh Koladiya.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to the pH responsive paper strip and a process of preparing the same. The present invention discloses the preparation process of the pH responsive paper strip. In particular the paper strip shows a colour change between pH ranges 1-4 and 8-12. The halochromic behaviour of the said indicator is supported by the UV-Vis spectra obtained at different pH values. Robustness of the pH responsive paper strip is demonstrated by dipping the pH responsive paper strips in aqueous solutions having pH range from 1 to 14 and determining the colour change by naked eye. The pH responsive paper strip was immersed sequentially in to alkaline and acidic aqueous solutions up to five times and the colour change was observed with no diminished colour intensity suggesting the reusability of the said pH responsive paper strip."
