MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621008796 A) filed by Sage University, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Jan. 28, for 'pill dispensing system and method of operating the same.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A pill dispensing system (102) for secure medication delivery includes a biometric sensor (104), a pill storage compartment (106, an actuator (108), a user interface (110), and a hardware processor (112) operatively coupled to the biometric sensor (104), the actuator (108), and the user interface (110). The hardware processor (112) receives biometric data from the biometric sensor (104). The hardware processor (112) compares the received biometric data with stored biometric authentication data to generate a verification result. The hardware processor (112) activates the actuator (108) to release medication from the pill storage compartment (106) based on the verification result indicating successful authentication. The hardware processor (112) communicates a dispensing status via the user interface (110)."
