MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411004754 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 23, 2024, for 'piston rings installation device.'

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A piston rings installation device, comprises a cuboidal body 1 configured with an opening 2 to insert a piston for installing with compression rings, a motorized crank shaft assembled inside the body 1 to connect with the piston's rod, a multi-sectioned chamber 4 assembled inside the body 1 for storing multiple compression rings, an inlet 5 crafted on the chamber 4 for refilling of rings inside the chamber 4, a touch interactive display panel 6 mapped on body 1 to input details regarding type of the piston, a pair of robotic grippers 7 assembled inside the body 1 for placing the rings on slots crafted on the piston, an imaging unit 8 mapped inside the body 1 for capturing and processing images of inner surroundings of body 1, and a first robotic link 9 configured with a plier tool 10, for expanding and installing the rings inside the slots."
