MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122991 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'planar inverted-f antenna for medical implant communication.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Vivek Rajpoot; Shubham Sharma; and Ananya Verma.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a planar inverted-F antenna system for medical implant communication. The antenna system includes a biocompatible substrate having a relative permittivity between 2.0 and 10.0, a radiating patch (5) disposed on a first surface of the substrate with the radiating patch having a serpentine geometry with rectangular slots configured to increase electrical length while maintaining compact dimensions, a ground plane disposed on a second surface of the substrate opposite to the first surface, a shorting pin electrically connecting the radiating patch to the ground plane, and a feed connection positioned on the radiating patch to excite electromagnetic radiation. The antenna system operates within a Medical Implant Communication Service frequency band of 402-405 MHz and exhibits a return loss of at least -10 dB at an operating frequency."
