MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517067368 A) filed by Nippon Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on July 15, for 'plated steel sheet.'

Inventor(s) include Mitsunobu, Takuya; Uranaka, Masaaki; Matsuba, Masahiro; and Nishikado, Minae.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "[Problem] To further suppress the occurrence of LME and coating film blistering at the time of welding. [Solution] The plated steel sheet according to the present invention includes a plating layer disposed on at least a part of the surface of the steel sheet, the plating layer having a chemical structure comprising, in mass%, 30.00 to 70.00% Al, 7.00 to 20.00% Mg, and 0.01 to 15.00% Fe, and selectively having one or more elements selected from the group consisting of element group A to element group G, the remainder being at least 5.00 mass% Zn and impurities. As regards the surface structure of the plating layer, the average area ratio of the a/t lamellar structure, which is the metal structure in which the rod-shaped a phase is dispersed in the t parent phase, is 30% to 95%. The measurement results obtained by an X-ray diffraction analysis of the plating layer demonstrates an intensity ratio of the peak strength I220 corresponding to the (220) surface of the a phase relative to the peak strength I111 corresponding to the (111) surface of the a phase, I 220/I111, of 0.25 or more."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 26, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/046675.
