MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641048754 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 16, for 'plug-and-play portable device and a method for local execution of user-defined python scripts.'
Inventor(s) include Yash Suhas Jawale; Shuktika Shreyasi; Vatchala S; and Yogesh C.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a plug-and-play portable device for local execution of user-defined scripts. The device (100) includes a Universal Serial Bus (USB) form factor (102) embedding functional components, including a USB interface (106), a programmable microcontroller unit (MCU) (104), and supporting electrical circuitry (110). The MCU (104) runs interpreter firmware and autonomously executes scripts without reliance on host-installed interpreters. Upon activation of a reset button (108), the MCU (104) enters bootloader mode, enabling installation of interpreter firmware via a first drive accessible on a host computing device (106). Once installed, the MCU (104) generates a second drive containing a default editable file of scripts. Users can modify the editable file to implement custom scripts executed automatically. The electrical circuitry (110) provides power regulation, timing, reset, and communication functions. The device (100) provides a driver-free execution environment for executing user-defined scripts locally on the MCU (104)."
