MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411018216 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 13, 2024, for 'plugging and unplugging assistive device.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A plugging and unplugging assistive device, comprising a platform 1 positioned over a switchboard, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 determines location of socket accordingly a J-shaped rod 5 extends and positions a plate 4 over socket, tow motorized sliding units 6 each configured with a telescopic gripper 7 in which a user engages wire of a plug within gripper 7, multiple iris apertures 8 open and simultaneously sliding units 6 translates gripper 7s for inserting plug within opened apertures 8, an ultrasonic sensor determines dimensions of pins, a microphone 9 receives user's voice command and accordingly device is operated, a robotic arm 11 turns on/off a switch present over switchboard, a current sensor monitors amount of current flowing within plug and accordingly plug gets unplugged, a temperature sensor determine temperature of wire and plug accordingly speaker 13 notifies user."
