MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311079693 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Nov. 23, 2023, for 'pocket hole drilling assistive device.'
Inventor(s) include Anmol Gautam; Ashish Kumar; and Rajni Verma.
The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A pocket hole drilling assistive device, comprising of an extendable plate 1 positioned on a junction of at-least two wooden workpieces to drill, a pair of suction cups 2 for affixing with surface of workpieces, a laser sensor for detecting dimension of workpiece, a rack and pinion gear arrangement 3 for extending plate 1 that covers surface of workpiece, a four-link lever screw mechanism 4 that aids in clamping of workpieces with each other, a motorized drilling arrangement 7 that aids in drilling of a pocket hole on workpiece, a vacuum based cleaning unit 8 for cleaning wooden residue generated during drilling of hole, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 9 determines successful drilling of holes, and a holographic projection unit 10 for projecting a holographic image on workpiece to secure a screw inside drilled hole."
