MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202547068156 A) filed by Novamont S. P. A., Novara, Italy, on July 17, for 'polyesters with long-chain dicarboxylic acids.'

Inventor(s) include Bastioli, Catia; Capuzzi, Luigi; and Vallero, Roberto.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a diacid-diol polyester in which the dicarboxylic component comprises 1-60% in moles of units derived from 1,16-hexadecanedioic acid and 40-99% in moles of units derived from 1,18-octadecanedioic acid. This polyester, advantageously obtained from a renewable source, has thermal properties that make it suitable for use, as such or in mixtures with other polymers, in all the main transformation processes (e.g. film-forming, thermoforming, injection moulding, extrusion coating) and in particular for the preparation of thermoformed articles and films for food packaging."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 20, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/086983.
