MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517054857 A) filed by Toyobo MC Corporation, Osaka, Japan, on June 6, for 'polyolefin-based paint composition and primer paint.'

Inventor(s) include Yamasaki, Hokuto; and Kashihara, Kenji.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a paint composition having excellent high-pressure car-washing resistance on a polyolefin resin substrate, exhibiting favorable adhesiveness and water resistance with respect to both a non-polar substrate such as a polyolefin substrate and a polar substrate such as a polycarbonate substrate or an ABS substrate, and also having favorable storage stability. Specifically, the present invention provides a paint composition characterized by containing a modified polyolefin (A) and a (meth)acrylic resin (B), wherein: the glass transition temperature of the modified polyolefin (A) is at least -30 C; the (meth)acrylic resin (B) contains a polymer of a radically polymerizable compound (b1); the radically polymerizable compound (b1) contains at least one among (meth)acrylate having an alkoxymethyl group and (meth)acrylate having an alkoxyethyl group; the glass transition temperature of the (meth)acrylic resin (B) is at least 0 C; and the hydroxyl value of the (meth)acrylic resin (B) is 5-150 mg KOH/g."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 10, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/040640.
