MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611009804 A) filed by Manav Rachna International Institute of Research & Studies, Faridabad, Haryana, on Jan. 30, for 'portable sterilization device and method for sterilizing endodontic files.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A portable sterilization device (100) for sterilizing endodontic files (108a-108n) is disclosed. The device (100) comprises a portable housing (102). The portable housing (102) comprises a sterilization chamber (104), comprising ports (106a-106n) to receive the endodontic files (108a-108n). The sterilization chamber (104) is enclosed using a lid (110); ultraviolet light sources (114a-114n) are disposed within the sterilization chamber (104) to emit ultraviolet class-C irradiation towards the endodontic files (108a-108n). The device (100) is configured to receive an activation signal, comprising a predetermined sterilization duration from a pilot button (118); activate the ultraviolet light sources (114a-114n); and deactivate the ultraviolet light sources (114a-114n) when the predetermined sterilization duration elapses to zero. The device (100) omits utilization of chemical reagents for the sterilization of the endodontic files (108a-108n)."
