MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517058068 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on June 17, for 'pouch-type battery case and pouch-type secondary battery.'

Inventor(s) include Kim, Sang Hun; Kang, Gyung Soo; Lee, Jae Ho; Yu, Hyung Kyun; and Lee, Ji Sun.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A pouch-type battery case according to the present invention comprises: a pouch film laminate; a cup portion including a lower portion and a side portion; and a flat portion surrounding the cup portion. The side portion includes a first curved portion, a second curved portion, and a plane portion disposed between the first curved portion and the second curved portion. The first curved portion is defined as the portion between the lower portion and the plane portion, and the second curved portion is defined as the portion between the plane portion and the flat portion. The pouch film laminate includes a base layer, a sealant layer, and a gas barrier layer disposed between the base layer and the sealant layer. The gas barrier layer includes stainless steel. The pouch-type battery case satisfies Formula 1 below. [Formula 1] 0.01 = D / {A-(RP+RD+C)}. D is the thickness of the gas barrier layer, A is the depth of the cup portion along the depth direction of the cup portion, RP is the radius of curvature of the first curved portion, RD is the radius of curvature of the second curved portion, and C is the length of the plane portion in a direction perpendicular to the depth direction of the cup portion."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 01, 2023, under International application No.PCT/KR2023/019728.
