MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517084061 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Sept. 4, for 'pouch-type battery cell.'

Inventor(s) include Lee, Chang Je; Lee, In Seok; and Myoung, Gi Hoon.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A pouch-type battery cell according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises an electrode assembly that can be accommodated between a first case and a second case. The pouch-type battery cell may comprise: a cup portion, which is formed in the first case and/or the second case and accommodates the electrode assembly; a folding portion in which an edge portion of the first case surrounds an edge portion of the second case so that a discharge flow path is formed between the edge portion of the first case and the edge portion of the second case; a sealing portion formed in the folding portion; and a venting portion by which the cup portion and the discharge flow path communicate when the internal pressure of the cup portion increases."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 13, 2024, under International application No.PCT/KR2024/002017.
