MUMBAI, India, Dec. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511085056 A) filed by Indian Council Of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, on Sept. 8, for 'primers, probe and a kit for isothermal detection of equine herpesvirus 4 (ehv 4) nucleic acids.'

Inventor(s) include Bera, Bidhan Chandra; Virmani Nitin; Anand, Taruna; Muskan, Bhadok; and Bhattacharya, Tarun Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a kit for detection of Equine herpesvirus 4 (EHV4) nucleic acids in equine biological samples. The kit comprises a gene amplification unit for amplifying the gC gene of EHV4 virus by using primers selected from SEQ ID NO: 2 and SEQ ID NO: 2 and nfo-probe selected from SEQ ID NO: 4; and a detector unit comprising a lateral flow test cassette for visual detection of bands. It offers high sensitivity, strong specificity, and does not require specialized equipment-making it ideal for point-of-care use."
