MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411009601 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, New Delhi, on Feb. 12, 2024, for 'process for preparation of ferrite-based treated graphite composite and application thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Mamata Mohapatra; Sushree Pattnaik; Bhavya Elayidathu Veedu; Raveendranath Unnikrishnan Nair; Santosh Deb Barma; Ashok Kumar Sahu; Balamati Choudhury; and Om Ranjan.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composition exhibits a total shielding effect greater than 16-20 dB comprising carbon source and transition metal-based spinel ferrite, wherein the carbon source and transition metal-based spinel ferrite in a ratio ranging from 30-40 wt% to 70-60 wt%. More particularly, the present invention relates to bulk production of carbon source selected from treated graphite and transition metal-based spinel ferrite selected from cobalt zinc ferrite for using as an electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding material in the X band, which encompasses microwave radiation frequencies ranging from 8 GHz to 12 GHz. The present innovation provides an enhanced EMI shielding composition comprising treated graphite as carbon source and cobalt zinc ferrite as transition metal-based spinel ferrite in the ratio of 30-40:70-60 wt % having attenuation shielding effectiveness (SEA) in the order of 16-20dB."
