MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421012756 A) filed by Zydus Lifesciences Limited, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Feb. 22, 2024, for 'process for the preparation of darunavir.'

Inventor(s) include Singh, Kumar Kamlesh; Jain, Kuldeep Natwarlal; Patel, Chirag Vasantbhai; Jadhav, Lalchand Murlidhar; and Zala, Mayursinh Jasvantsinh.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A process for the preparation of darunavir comprises the reacting of 4-amino-N-(2R,3S) (3-amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutyl)-N-isobutyl-benzenesulfonamide with 2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl((3R,3aS,6aR)-hexahydrofuro[2,3-b]furan-3-yl) carbonate in N,N-dimethyl formamide (DMF). The process yields high purity darunavir substantially free of dimer impurity and difuranyl impurity."
