MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517050696 A) filed by Cvmr Corporation, Toronto, on May 27, for 'processes for recovering metallic iron from source material.'

Inventor(s) include Victor Emmanuel, Nanthakumar; Al-Quayyum, Mohammad; and Khozan, Kamran M.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This is provided a process for recovering metallic element including iron from a metallic iron-comprising derivative. The process comprises the steps of: (1) activating the metallic iron-comprising derivative comprising sponge iron with a gaseous processing agent comprising hydrogen sulphide and a carbonylating agent comprising carbon monoxide, (2) carbonylating the metallic iron-comprising derivative that has been activated to obtain a carbonyl, and (3) decomposing the carbonyl to obtain the metallic element."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 05, 2023, under International application No.PCT/CA2023/051322.
