MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541125517 A) filed by Shivaprakash, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Dec. 12, 2025, for 'procto tonometer.'

Inventor(s) include Shivaprakash G; Narayana Swamy Chetty Y. V; and Shreyas N.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides a non-invasive digital embedded system for indicating intra-rectal pressure. The system comprises an external pressure sensor (100), a signal conditioning circuit (101), a microcontroller (102) for processing the sensor data, and a display unit(103). The sensor detects pressure changes non-invasively, and the microcontroller executes an algorithm to convert these changes into a readable digital output, aiding in the diagnosis of proctological ailments without patient discomfort. The system is an assembly of electronic module housed in an ergonomic enclosure (14). A syringe (6[) for inflating a catheter's (9) balloon (8) with air of 35ml, a three-way valve (7). The three-way valve (7) is turned to measure mode after calibration is completed and the pressure inside the balloon (8) of the catheter (9) is pneumatically transmitted to the pressure sensor through the T shaped connector (11). The sensor's signals being weak and noisy are signal conditioned for use for converting it into equivalent digital value using Analog to Digital converter. This binary equivalent is converted into a mmHg equivalent value by using programmed microcontroller which will be displayed on the backlit LCD the physiological value is also transmitted via wired or wireless protocols in real time, the value is uploaded to cloud for storage and analysis using Machine Learning (ML) based techniques."
