MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611022753 A) filed by Abes Engineering College, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 26, for 'proof-based automated attendance verification system and method.'

Inventor(s) include Ayush Jain; and Ms. Gaurav Vats.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a proof-based automated attendance verification system for authenticating physical classroom presence without storing biometric or location data. The system operates through a web application that extracts biometric feature embeddings, performs liveness verification, and captures environmental sensor signatures including wireless, magnetic, acoustic, and motion data. These inputs are locally processed to generate a non-reversible cryptographic co-location proof token. Attendance is recorded only upon validation of the proof token, preventing proxy attendance, spoofing, and remote check-ins. The invention provides a scalable, privacy-compliant, and zero-touch solution for automated attendance verification in educational institutions."
