MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023130 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 24, 2024, for 'protective floor covering device.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A protective floor covering device, comprising a platform 1 installed with plurality of telescopically operated rods 2 integrated with tri-wheel assembly 3 for moving, an artificial intelligence enabled image capturing module 4 detects a gap present in between platform 1 and surface and accordingly rods 2 extend/retract for positioning platform 1 in close proximity to surface, a L-shaped extendable link 5 for supporting a motorized roller 6 coiled with a plastic sheet which uncoil sheet for being placed on surface while translation of platform 1 to get properly placed on surface, and a robotic arm 8 equipped with a cutter 7 cuts sheet at an appropriate portion post successful placement of sheet on surface."
