MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431036544 A) filed by Director, Central Research And Training Laboratory, Kolkata, West Bengal, on May 8, 2024, for 'radio frequency identification based generic standalone audio guide system.'

Inventor(s) include Arijit Dutta Chowdhury; Pramod Grover; Manash Bagchi; and Shatadal Ghosh.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A portable audio guide system comprising a Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) tag reader, an audio player and a microcontroller operatively connected to said RFID tag reader and said audio player. The said microcontroller is configured for diving said RFID tag reader to scan any available nearby RFID tag attached with an exhibit, whereby each time the RFID reader detects such RFID tag, the microcontroller identifies the exhibit based a unique number loaded in the RFID tag as read by the RFID tag reader. The microcontroller is configured for sending a signal to the audio player according to the identified exhibit for playing corresponding audio."
