MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641049852 A) filed by Kishore B S, Hassan, Karnataka, on April 19, for 'recoater assembly with repositionable closed-loop elastomeric blade and method for managing warpage-induced blade deformation in laser powder bed fusion.'

Inventor(s) include Kishore B S.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Recoater Assembly with Repositionable Closed-Loop Elastomeric Blade and Method for Managing Warpage-Induced Blade Deformation in Laser Powder Bed Fusion. A recoater assembly for laser powder bed fusion wherein a closed-loop elastomeric belt-type blade (4) is retained in a blade slot (3) by friction fit releasable by Poisson-effect contraction under axial tension applied by blade-driving mechanisms (5a, 5b). Tension releases the friction fit; belt rotation positions any selected zone at the active lip (4a); tension release re-locks the belt. A sensing system (6) detects warpage on the first post-warpage pass and records [Yw1, Yw2]; a machine controller aligns the worn zone (4w) with [Yw1, Yw2] before each subsequent pass and parks it in a non-critical zone after each pass, restoring nominal layer thickness to all non-warped regions without blade replacement or build interruption. A severity-adaptive mode distributes deformation across multiple belt positions."
