MUMBAI, India, Dec. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202417037455 A) filed by Eastman Chemical Company, Kingsport, U.S.A., on May 13, for 'recycled content polyethylene terephthalate and method of making the same.'

Inventor(s) include Ekart, Michael, Paul; and Debruin, Bruce, Roger.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 6, under issue no. 49/2024.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Processes and systems for producing recycled content polyethylene terephthalate (r-PET) are provided. Integration of chemical recycling facilities with PET production facilities reduces energy consumption and helps minimize adverse environmental impacts, while providing valuable end products having up to 100 percent recycled content. Additionally, processes and systems described herein may provide high IV, crystalline PET based on dimethyl terephthalate, which can exhibit desirable properties during molding and other end use applications."

The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 11, 2023, under International application No.PCT/US2023/060455.
