MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517019011 A) filed by Northwestern University; and Basf Se, Evanston, U.S.A., on March 4, for 'reprocessing crosslinked polyurethane.'
Inventor(s) include Dichtel, William, R.; Sun, Molly; Brutman, Jacob, Paul; and Alsbaiee, Alaaeddin.
The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein are methods and composition for reprocessing crosslinked polyurethanes. The method may comprise mechanically processing the crosslinked polyurethane, mixing the mechanically processed crosslinked polyurethane with a solid polyurethane exchange catalyst, heating the mixture to an effective bond-exchange temperature, and applying mechanical force to the mixture for an effective bond-exchange time. In another aspect the method may comprise heating a polyurethane exchange catalyst and an antioxidant composition, the antioxidant composition comprising the crosslinked polyurethane and an antioxidant, to an effective bond- exchange temperature and applying mechanical force to the polyurethane exchange catalyst and the antioxidant composition for an effective bond-exchange time."
The patent application was internationally filed on Aug. 22, 2023, under International application No.PCT/US2023/072686.
