MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521121235 A) filed by Merai Newage Private Limited, Vapi, Gujarat, on Dec. 3, 2025, for 'robotic surgical system with automated jaw actuation mechanism.'

Inventor(s) include Marella, Rajeev Reddy; and Biswas, Amit Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A robotic surgical system (100) includes a patient-side cart (110) with a plurality of robotic arms (112), a surgeon console (130), and a vision cart (120). At least one robotic arm (112) supports a surgical harmonic instrument (140) mounted to a surgical instrument holder (114). The surgical harmonic instrument (140) comprises a jaw assembly (208) including a stationary jaw (502) and a pivotable jaw (504), and an internal actuation mechanism including a guide body (308) with guide channels, a follower arm (314) with a guide pin, and a cam (304) having a groove (306) and a coupling shaft (312). The cam (304) rotates along a longitudinal axis (318) and engages the guide pin, causing it to move linearly within a guide channel. The linear motion of the guide pin translates the follower arm (314), actuating the pivotable jaw (504) between an open and a closed position for tissue manipulation during surgical procedures."
