MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411014288 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 27, 2024, for 'rod joining device.'
Inventor(s) include Ramandeep Deorda; Ravinder Singh; Yashpreet Singh; and Dheeraj Kumar Gautam.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A rod joining device, comprising a platform 1 developed to be positioned on a ground surface, plurality of suction cups 2 for gripping the surface, an AI-based image capturing module 3 for capturing multiple images of surroundings, robotic gripper 4 for gripping and placing rods within a hollow cylindrical shaper member 5, a pair of iris apertures 6 to securely grip the rods with the member 5, a motorized cutter 7 to perform thread cutting over the rod's surface, spiral shaped slider 8 for sliding the cutter 7 over the rod's surface, chamber 9 to store rod couplers, rod couplers to join the rods and a heating unit for softening the rods."
