MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531011902 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on Feb. 12, for 'rod milling device.'

Inventor(s) include Shashendra Ku. Sahoo.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A rod milling device, comprises a rectangular base 101 having four telescopic rods 117 attached underneath the base 101 are provided with motorized tracked wheels 102 for a locomotion of the base 101, a pneumatic actuator 106 having a blade 118 for extending to contact the rod inserted in the hole for removing material from the rod, a robotic arm 107 to insert the rod into the hole in the plate 104, a laser sensor embedded in the base 101 detects diameter of the rod, an L-shaped telescopic link 108, having a clamp 109 for gripping the rod and translating and rotating the rod via the hole during the milling operation, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 111, in synchronization with an ultrasonic sensor to determine position, length and surface imperfections of the rod, and a hose 112 connected with a vacuum unit for suction of debris generated during milling."
