MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411017492 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 11, 2024, for 'safety system for skateboards.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A safety system for skateboards, comprises of a sensing module (1, 2) installed with a skateboard 5 for detecting change in orientation and speed of the skateboard 5, a speaker installed in an earpiece worn by rider of the skateboard 5 for notifying the rider to maintain speed and orientation, a proximity sensor 3 positioned on skateboard 5 for detecting presence of obstacle, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 mounted on the skateboard 5 to detect trajectory of the skateboard 5, a braking unit integrated with a pair of brake pads 8 connected with each other via a pair of electromagnetic spring 7 and configured with the wheels of the skateboard 5 to reduce the speed of the skateboard 5, and a push button 6 crafted on the skateboard 5 for activating/de-activating the system."
