MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521123236 A) filed by Dr Akshya N. Shetti; and Dr Satyajeet Panda, Loni, Maharashtra, on Dec. 6, 2025, for 'savic- a novel adaptor transforming conventional laryngoscope into video laryngoscope.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a modular adapter device designated as SAViC (Smart Adapter for Video Conversion), designed to convert a conventional direct laryngoscope into a video-assisted laryngoscope. The device comprises a miniature camera (3.9-5.5 mm lens diameter, 640 480 to 1280 720 resolution, 30 fps), integrated LED illumination with adjustable brightness, and a wired USB-C connectivity interface for live video streaming to a smartphone or tablet. The adapter employs a universal slide-on mechanical mount fabricated from medical-grade polymer or aluminum, compatible with standard Macintosh and Miller blades, maintaining the native geometry and ergonomics of the instrument. The sealed electronic housing (IP67) supports ETO sterilization and use with a disposable sterile sheath. A companion software application provides live video, recording, annotation, and device control functions. SAViC delivers real-time visualization, recording, and telementoring capability at low cost, enabling enhanced airway management in clinical and training environments."
