MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511127728 A) filed by Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, Haryana, on Dec. 16, 2025, for 'seatbelt safety and comfort system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Gurpreet Singh Matharou; and Dr. Simran Kaur.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A seatbelt safety and comfort system, comprising a pillar loop block 201 incorporating a motorized roller 202 adjusts the length and tension of a belt webbing 203 along the occupant's shoulder, a retractor block 204 stores and releases the belt webbing 203 and a locking unit to restrain the occupant during sudden deceleration, a buckle block 205 receives a latch plate 206 and enables the belt webbing 203 to secure around the occupant, an imaging unit 101 detects occupant seating, posture, fatigue, stress, pregnancy, or child presence, a motorized scissor unit 207 integrated with a motorized gripping unit 208, actuates and buckles the latch plate 206 with the buckle block 205, an inflating airbag 209 provides protection for pregnant occupants or post-surgery support, adjustable via a motorized clamp 210 connected through an extendable link 211, a motorized cutter unit 212 on a slider 213 allows emergency belt webbing 203 release."
