MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024810 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'seating-based luggage storage device for public places.'

Inventor(s) include Hemlata; Roopika Malhotra; Namita; and Simarjot Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A seating-based luggage storage device for public places comprises of an L-shaped platform 1 positioned on a ground surface at a public place for allowing individuals to sit and installed with a pair of L-shaped frames 2 and each of the frames 2 is mounted with multiple L-shaped hook 3 for allowing the user to hang luggage bags as per requirement, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 for detecting the individuals hanging the luggage bags on the hooks 3, a weight sensor for detecting accommodation of the bags on the hooks 3, a motorized pivot for tilting and locking the hooks 3 with the frame, a thermal imaging unit 7 for detecting presence of any illegal object within the bags, and a microphone 8 for giving the voice commands for determining hooks 3 hung with the bags of the individual."
