MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411003465 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 17, 2024, for 'seating posture correction apparatus for western commode.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Kulwant Singh; Parampreet Singh; Khushdeep Singh; Damanjot Singh; Vasu Nandan Singh; and Parvinder Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A seating posture correction apparatus for western commode, comprises of a platform 1 positioned on a ground surface in front of a western commode, a plate 2 configured with the platform 1 to accommodate the feet of a user, a set of V-shaped units configured with a fixed link 3 and configured between the platform 1 and the plate 2, a movable link 4 configured with the plate 2 and installed with a slot 5 carved at the side portion of the platform 1 for lowering/lifting the plate 2 with respect to the platform 1, an elongated member 6 for lifting the height of the plate 2 as per the requirement, and plurality of pivot joints 7 configured with the links (3, 4), member 6, and lever for tilting the links (3, 4), member 6, and lever."
