MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517056686 A) filed by Advanced Micro Devices, Inc; and Ati Technologies Ulc, Santa Clara, U.S.A., on June 12, for 'secure memory-mapped input/output.'
Inventor(s) include Ng, Philip; Raval, Nippon; Powell, Jeremy W.; Matthews Jr. Donald; and Kaplan, David.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A processor [101] manages memory-mapped input/output (MMIO) accesses, in secure fashion, at an input/output memory management unit (IOMMU) [110]. The processor is configured to ensure that, for a given MMIO request [111] issued by a processor core and associated with a particular executing VM [106], the request is targeted to a MMIO address that has been assigned to the VM by a security module (e.g., a security co-processor [104]). The processor thus prevents a malicious entity from accessing confidential information of a VM via MMIO requests."
The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 20, 2023, under International application No.PCT/US2023/085138.
