MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088287 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'self-healing enabled secured apparatus for jackets.'

Inventor(s) include Utsuk Narayan; Utkarsh Prajapati; Akshit Yadav; Sanidhya Singh; and Areeb Shazli.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A self-healing enabled secured apparatus for jackets comprises of a wearable unit 1 developed to be worn by a user while encountering gun shots where the wearable unit 1 are made of a pair of layers of Kevlar layers 2 which projects the user's body from bullet shots, a metallic sheet 3 having a particular state embedded in between the layers 2 where upon positioning of the sheet 3 in vacuum condition for a pre-defined period of time, the sheet 3 tends to rebind cracks and depressions caused on the sheet 3 due to interaction with the bullets which in turn imparts self-healing property to the sheet 3 and increasing reusability of the wearable unit 1."
