MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611027136 A) filed by K. R. Mangalam University, Gurugram, Haryana, on March 8, for 'self-micro emulsifying drug delivery system of telmisartan.'
Inventor(s) include Astha Singh; and Dr. Khalid Bashir Mir.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A self-microemulsifying drug delivery system for oral administration comprising telmisartan or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, an oil phase, a surfactant and a co-surfactant is disclosed. In preferred embodiments, the oil phase comprises oleic acid, the surfactant comprises Tween 80, and the co-surfactant comprises PEG 400. The composition spontaneously forms a fine oil-in-water microemulsion upon dilution, exhibits globule size in the nanometric range, and shows improved dissolution performance relative to conventional telmisartan formulations. A process for preparing the composition and its therapeutic use for oral delivery of telmisartan are also disclosed."
