MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517056268 A) filed by Trustees Of Boston University, Boston, on June 11, for 'self-replicating rna and uses thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Mcgee, Joshua Edward; Kirsch, Jack Rainier; Bressler, Eric; Grinstaff, Mark W.; Wong, Wilson; Sertse, Lidya Yidnekachew; and Li, Kexin.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The technology described herein is directed to compositions and methods for modifying and controlling the activity of cells by expression of proteins from self-amplifying RNA (saRNA). Also described herein are compositions and methods for modifying and controlling the activity of cells by expression of proteins from self-amplifying RNA that is substituted with chemically modified nucleotides."
