MUMBAI, India, Jan. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202417038761 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on May 17, 2024, for 'separator for electrochemical device, and electrochemical device comprising same.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a separator for an electrochemical device that contains a lithium manganese-based active material, the separator comprising: a porous polymeric substrate; a first porous coating layer, which is formed on a first side of the porous polymeric substrate and comprises first inorganic particles and second inorganic particles of which the specific surface areas are greater than those of the first inorganic particles; and a second porous coating layer, which is formed on a second side of the porous polymeric substrate, wherein the second inorganic particles have sulfonic acid groups introduced onto the surface thereof, and at least some of the sulfonic acid groups each has a hydrogen cation substituted with a lithium cation."
