MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411017490 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 11, 2024, for 'shelter management system for stray animals.'

Inventor(s) include Sehaj; and Dr. Ashish Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A shelter management system for stray animals, comprises of a cuboidal housing 1 positioned on a round surface for sheltering stray animals, a proximity sensor 3 to detect animals entering housing 1, a RFID reader 4 to detect presence of animals in housing 1, a microcontroller to detect type of animal, multiple iris lids 7 configured with a chamber 6 to dispense food within bowls, multiple nozzles 9 to dispense water within receptacles 11 for allowing animals to consume food and water, a temperature sensor to detect temperature of the housing 1, multiple heating units and air blowers 12 to maintain temperature of surrounding as per requirement, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 13 to detect any wound on the animal's body, a RTC module to detect absence of the animal, and multiple sprinklers 14, a wiper 17 and heating units to work in synchronization for cleaning the housing 1."
