MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421023294 A) filed by Maharashtra Institute Of Medical Education And Research, Kandhar, Maharashtra, on March 25, 2024, for 'shiv-shakti limb lead system to record ecg for coverage of all the surfaces of heart.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Pallavi Yuvaraj Badhe; and Abhijit Patil.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention introduces a novel electrocardiogram (ECG) recording system designed to capture signals from all heart surfaces, including the right side and posterior regions, which are not adequately assessed by the conventional 12-lead ECG system. The inventors have developed the Shiv-Shakti triangle configuration, positioned in the antero-inferior plane, to enable comprehensive ECG recording from the right and posterior heart surfaces using fewer electrodes. This innovative Shiv-Shakti ECG system provides a 360-degree view of cardiac activity and supports ambulatory monitoring by relocating electrodes to the torso. Additionally, it enhances the detection of subtle atrial events by directly recording signals from the right and posterior heart regions."
