MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441036274 A) filed by M. S. Ramaiah University Of Applied Sciences, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on May 7, 2024, for 'single wire duplex communication system.'

Inventor(s) include Ugra Mohan Roy; and Sujithkumar Reddy Bommareddy.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides a single-wire full-duplex communication system that allows simultaneous bidirectional data transfer using a single conductor. The approach differentiates data directions by voltage-based signals in one direction and current-based signals in the other. The system comprises push-pull transmitters, sense resistors, comparators, and carefully selected MOSFET components. By merging two data lines into a single wire, it reduces cable complexity while maintaining throughput. The invention is particularly useful in space-constrained environments, offering potential integration with high-speed or low-latency protocols. Overall, it optimizes wiring infrastructure without sacrificing performance or reliability. Additionally, it demonstrates adaptability to both synchronous and asynchronous protocols."
