MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631050636 A) filed by Jis College Of Engineering, Nadia, West Bengal, on April 21, for 'smart identification card with distress signal and automatic location alert system for school children security.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A smart identification card for school children security comprises an embedded electronic system integrated into a wearable badge format. The device includes a microcontroller, a GPS module for geolocation, a GSM module for wireless communication, and a tactile distress button. Upon manual activation or autonomous detection of a geo-fence violation, the device transmits real-time coordinates and student identification data to pre-registered contacts via SMS or voice calls, bypassing the need for smartphone use or internet connectivity. The invention features a tamper-resistant housing, a rechargeable power unit with low-battery alerting, and optional ambient audio capture to facilitate a comprehensive emergency response framework within educational infrastructures."
