MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010694 A) filed by Birla Institute Of Technology And Science, Pilani, Rajasthan, on Feb. 15, 2024, for 'smart load optimizer.'

Inventor(s) include Radhika Sudha; Annambaka Ajitha; Prof. Goel Sanket; and Gowrishetty Akhilesh.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A smart load optimizer (100), an IoT based home energy management system (HEMS) and method (200) disclosed to reduce power consumption automatically during peak load duration of the utility. The system comprises plurality of Master controller (101), plurality of node controllers (103) to manage plurality of the loads (105), a grid supply (121), renewable energy integrated with battery storage supply (123). The plurality of loads are classified as critical, non-critical and programmable loads, without comprising consumer comfort. The non-critical loads are turned off, programmable loads are managed to reduce the power consumption during peak load hours. The energy/bill savings, based on with or without time of the day tariff is made available to consumer to encourage to reduce the power consumption during utility peak loads. The user interface is provided for consumer to monitor and control the operations through computing devices."
