MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104166 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'smart street lighting system for energy conservation.'
Inventor(s) include Vaibhav Mittal; Navdeep Singh; Dr. Shailesh Kumar Singh; and Gaurav Pushkarna.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A smart street lighting system for energy conservation comprising a plurality of Street lights 103 arranged along a pathway, a series of infrared sensors 101 positioned to detect movement of vehicles, a microcontroller 102 programmed to process signals from the sensors, a light-dependent resistor or photodiode for sensing ambient light, a pulse width modulation mechanism for adjusting brightness of the Street lights 103, a power supply Regulation Circuit 105 for maintaining stable operation of sensors and microcontroller 102, a manual override Switch 104 for enabling maintenance personnel to activate all Street lights 103, the system operating such that upon detection of a vehicle, the microcontroller 102 switches ON the Street lights 103 ahead and switches OFF trailing lights, dynamically regulates intensity based on ambient conditions, reduces overall power consumption, enhances safety by providing optimal illumination along pathways, prolongs lifespan of LED lamps, minimizes light pollution, and provides an energy-efficient, adaptive solution for sustainable urban lighting management."
