MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521020760 A) filed by Vishwakarma Govt. Engineering College, Ahemdabad, Gujarat, on March 7, for 'smart switching hybrid power system for energy-efficient 3d printing.'

Inventor(s) include Meet Gadani; Deven Mistry; Aastha Tiwari; and Sita Agrawal.

The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Smart Switching Hybrid Power System for Energy-Efficient 3D Printing device harnesses solar energy by directly connecting a solar panel to the power terminals of a 3D printer, ensuring continuous operation even during grid power failures. By supplying solar-generated electricity directly to the printer, the system reduces dependence on conventional energy sources, making the 3D printing process more sustainable and environmentally friendly. This approach not only enhances energy efficiency but also minimizes the carbon footprint associated with traditional power consumption. Additionally, integrating solar panels into the system demonstrates the feasibility of using renewable energy to power advanced technologies, ensuring uninterrupted productivity even in the absence of grid power."
