MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531011929 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on Feb. 12, for 'staircase climbing assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A staircase climbing assistive device comprising a stadium frame 101 having extendable curved rods 102 installed on railing of a staircase, a cylindrical structure 201 having a pair of curved plates 202 attached with frame 101 by means of a link 109 positioned on railing, a motorized hinge joint 203 integrated between plates 202 providing converging/diverging movement to plates 202, a microphone 103 integrated on frame 101 enabling a user to provide input commands, a motorized ball and socket joint 204 integrated between frame 101 and link 109 providing required movement to frame 101 deploying in front of user, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 104 integrated on frame 101 determines body dimensions of user, multiple extendable pins 105 arranged on lower rod 102 to extend/retract facilitates user to securely grip rod 102 and plurality of motorized wheels 205 arranged on inner periphery of plates 202 assisting user in climbing staircase."
