Subin Raj, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on March 3, for 'standardized biomass-derived polyphenol extract combination for rheumatoid arthritis with defined quercetin, curcuminoids and resveratrol levels as a food supplement.'
Inventor(s) include Ajith Kumar D; G. V. Gegi; P. M. Ansho; M. Subin Raj; and Kaaviyakanth Kamaraj.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention introduces a standardized polyphenol composition derived from plant biomass, combining three key extracts: quercetin from onion peel, curcuminoids from Curcuma aromatica peel, and trans-resveratrol from grape skin. The blend is carefully standardized to contain quercetin (5.0-30.0% w/w), total curcuminoids (3.0-25.0% w/w), and trans-resveratrol (0.5-10.0% w/w). The process involves extraction, blending, and precise marker quantification using HPLC or UPLC to ensure consistency and quality. Designed for therapeutic use, the composition helps manage rheumatoid arthritis by reducing inflammatory mediators and supporting joint health. A composition comprising a quercetin-containing extract derived from onion peel biomass, a curcuminoid-containing extract derived from Curcuma aromatica peel biomass, and a resveratrol-containing extract derived from grape skin biomass, wherein the composition is standardized to contain quercetin, expressed as quercetin aglycone equivalents, in an amount ranging from 5.0% to 30.0% w/w, total curcuminoids in an amount ranging from 3.0% to 25.0% w/w, and trans-resveratrol in an amount ranging from 0.5% to 10.0% w/w, the composition being useful for the management of rheumatoid arthritis by reducing inflammatory mediators and improving joint function."
