MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026055 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 29, 2024, for 'steel can management device.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A steel can management device that is comprises of, a circular body 1 installed with plurality of extendable plates 3, developed to be accommodated over mouth portion of steel can, a microphone 16 to give voice commands for securing the body 1 with the can, a drawer arrangement 4 to extend the plates 3 for covering sides of the can, multiple laser sensors for detecting diameter of can, a telescopically operated link 7 for passing the blade 8 through periphery of lid of the can, a motorized circular slider for rotating the link 7 to cut lid, an imaging unit 2 for detecting exact location of tab of the lid, a laser acuity sensor for detecting diameter of the mouth portion, an expandable pulley arrangement 12 to increase diameter of the disc 11 for covering mouth portion, and a cylindrical telescopically operated for dipping the member in can."
