MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641048680 A) filed by Ponraj Yuvaraja, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 16, for 'stop hold start system for automotive vehicles.'
Inventor(s) include Ponraj Yuvaraja.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a stop-Hold-Start (SHS) system (100) configured to prevent unintended forward or backward movement of a vehicle after it has been brought to a stop. The invention automatically retains braking force after driver-initiated stopping, without requiring continuous depression of the brake pedal, engagement of a parking brake, or clutch-throttle balancing. Upon driver's intention to move, the system (100) smoothly releases the retained braking force to allow forward motion without rollback or forward creep. The system comprises an electronic control unit (106) incorporating embedded processing, compatible communication protocols, and sensors (102A-N, 104A-N), brake holding modulators (108A-N). The system (100) is adaptable to vehicles equipped with hydraulic or pneumatic braking systems and is compatible with manual, automatic, automated manual, and intelligent manual transmissions. The system (100) is further configured for retrofit installation in existing vehicles."
