MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311085531 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 14, 2023, for 'surgical equipment inventory management system for hospitals.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A surgical equipment inventory management system for hospitals, comprises of a cuboidal body 1 installed within a hospital, plurality of chambers 2 for storing multiple surgical equipment, a touch-enabled screen 3 for enabling medical staff to input regarding the type of medical surgery to be performed, an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) reader 4 for capturing radio waves of unique frequencies emitted by an RFID tag, a robotic arm 5 for gripping the equipment, a container 6 for storing the determined equipment, a motorized hinge 12 for rotating a lid 13, a motorized door 7 to open for allowing access to the container 6, a speaker 8 for notifying the medical staff to collect the container 6, a microphone 9 for enabling a medical practitioner to give voice commands for opening the lid 12, and a sensing module (10,11) for authenticating the medical practitioner."
